Culture
Anemone was a nymph loved by Zephyrus and changed into an anemone by his jealous wife; red anemones arose from the blood of the wounded and dying Adonis, a lover of the goddess Aphrodite and the white from the tears of the grieving goddess; symbol of mourning and grief, relationships ending.
