Habitat: rocks, precipices, hill slopes, meadows, walls, fell tundra.
Use: ornamental.

Botany
Herb; annual or biennial; 5 to 10 cm tall.
Stem: erect; branched from base, branches erect, tip curving downwards.
Leaves: alternate; stalkless; sparse; blade quite cylindrical, both sides flat, glabrous, fleshy, initially lime green, later often with reddish brown spots.
Inflorescence: lax cyme.
Flower: blooming June and July.
Corolla: regular; greenish yellow ± 1 cm wide; petals 5, 3 to 4 mm long.
Calyx: sepals 5.
Androecium: stamens 10.
Gynoecium: with separate leaves, pistils 5.
Fruit: cluster of 5 many-seeded, basally united follicles.
