Habitat: dry thickets; prefers well-drained, humus-rich, loamy soil, full sun or partial shade; elevations up to 350 metres.

Herb; erect shrubby; about 50cm tall.
Leaves:
Flowers: form an intricate trap for pollinating insects, which are eventually released.
