Chimaphilla umbellata has caracteristics of the Ericaceae. It has the mental dullness with feeling of paralysis of the brain; renal and cystic troubles, spasms, calculi, chronic diseases of these organs, even several types of cancer. The rheumatic complaints are present as well.

Chimaphilla has interesting phenomena concerning the growth and function of the genitals. We see hypofunction:

There is correspondence with animal species where the dominant individuals mate and have children. The other animals do not mate and help to raise their nieces and nephews. If Chimaphilla acts in this way is not clear but the idea of working hard on poor soil might fit this strategy.
Symptoms specific for this remedy concern the eyes:
VISION; COLORS before the eyes; halo of colors around; light

The symptom:

The remedy fits complaints from cold; but the patient wants to be uncovered (like Ledum, but not so strong).
