Case Brassica
Migraine for 5 months, that's one month after his daughter was born. Recently it is a bit less bad, but the patient is still only able to work at 90% of his strength. He doesn't feel well in his skin, is lifeless and needs one and a half hour more sleep than before.
Before the birth of his daughter he was busy: 4 days work, 1 1/2 day training (in evening training) and also the household. However, the training was very nice, more creative than the work and gave a distraction. Patient wanted to finish (interrupt) the training to pick it up again in 1 1/2 or two years time: "I don't want to be as busy as I used to be, I want to enjoy my child". But at the beginning of the first consultation, he has his 6-month-old daughter with him and immediately puts her in my play corner, three metres from his own chair; she keeps staring at him a little stiff.
Migraine: At the beginning of the day, there were slight headaches; it began very gradually. Only around 17.00 does it become bad and "patient collapses". He goes to bed ˚ then, that is the best way to get over it (itt Rutaceae..).
Forehead and temples feel heavy (2); in temples it is a beating (2) feeling, there is oppressive pain (pushes outwards). In the first months the patient had no appetite for food during the migraine.
Discussion: There seems to be a discrepancy between the experience of the symptoms ("migraine") and the actual intensity (mi. rather severe headache).
Observation: Patient comes across as somewhat passive.
About the possible cause of the sudden headache patient says: "It has had an enormous impact that I quit my education and had my daughter. The study was very interesting and gave perspectives on more fun work. But it was also very time consuming and I hardly had time for a social life; it often caused tension in our relationship. I knew in advance that time would be a problem and I wanted to look at it every year. His work always came second; he was not ambitious then either.
Patient finds it strange that he has migraine; the three years before the migraine he has never been ill.
About the family expansion he says: You can imagine everything in advance, you can read all kinds of things about it. But it's different; you would never have imagined it that way, your own new experience. You used to have no rhythm in your life, you could leave, go out to dinner etc. just how it came out.
He calls zz an inner fatter and quiet, quite optimistic, always having fun in life. "I try to let the feeling reign even if that's not my nature; I'm sober, but I'm sensitive".
Discussion: all in all, the patient tells a lot, but he doesn't tell easily at all (the above is a compilation of the first four consultations). He also comes across as rational and his enthusiastic way of talking about his daughter seems a bit made.
History. In general, he is not very ill, once had (?) a period of severe intestinal pain and also a slight Pfeiffer. There are many headaches in the family: father and mother have severe headaches and a brother also recently (..).
Nutrition. Like wholemeal bread and savoury, beef, fish (3), rice, pasta, beer (2), milk and tea, a clear aversion to cauliflower (2) and boiled potatoes (2).
Temperature: warm, never sleeps in pajamas, window open. Hot summer weather is bad, < sun (2); even at 20 degrees he prefers no sun.
Sleep: by nature an evening person, prefers to go to bed at 1.30 am. Recently at 24.00 hrs sleep because of crazy nights with the daughter. He sleeps all the more, also gets out early to make a bottle etc. Position left/back. Regularly he wakes up at 5.00 (cf headache at 17.00!) and sleeps very lightly, hears everything.
I gave various means: Potassium permang, Cocculus, Sodium mur. and Bryonia. No effect at all, so he asked his wife if he would like to ask for an addition to the anamnesis.
She says that her husband is much more closed than she is and that fights take a long time before he speaks out. He is also very caring(3); he has chosen very much for his family. Can still enjoy food, wine and walking. He still has very good friends from the time of the scouting; until two years ago he supervised children's camps. He also has a good relationship with his parents, he is more attracted to his father. Since quitting education, her husband is sluggish and has little fun anymore.
She goes on to say that she can be very annoyed by his headache: "Oh no, not again..! Go to bed..! It's always in the weekend when we're free (and tired) together and we can finally do something fun.
Patient makes some useful additions: the attacks are only on the weekend, they start on Friday afternoon; he is at home with his daughter, "she needs constant attention, and I do the housework and the groceries and we go into the city mainly to get out and still feel a bit like I have a day off".
At work the pressure increases, there is always something lying around and he doesn't want that; he calls himself a perfectionist, in my opinion it also has to do with boundaries.. The colleagues have no room to take over either.
Judging by his attitude to life and his preference for food, I gave him a new remedy. Four days later he had a severe headache and after that it went much better. Two months after ingestion their second child was born and the patient could then express himself much more openly and emotionally (2) than before. He was busy during his wife's maternity leave: she had severe back problems and could do little in the household.
I gave the drug to him for if necessary. After two months I see him again; he didn't take a second grain. Sometimes he has a slight headache, is no longer ill, doesn't have to go to bed. Life is certainly not calmer, but he experiences less pressure.
