Case 1.3: Asarum Europaeum (Mansoor, European Snakeroot, European Wild Ginger)
June 2001 I saw the patient for the first time. She was 5 years old and the main complaint was asthmatic bronchitis. From the time she was 3 months old, she needed medication. An inhalation-corticosteroid and salbutamol (bronchodilator). After taking Salbutamol she became very aggressive. She had a high fever and humid, foggy weather aggravated the tightness of the chest. The symptoms started at night when she lay down: coughing and shortness of breath. The cough was a dry bark cough, which went on and on. The tightness of the chest, the days after, also became much worse at night. She coughed up dark green mucus. She often had a nose cold.
Previous history
During pregnancy, the mother did not feel well about herself. She felt very insecure. Earlier she had broken off contact with her parents (incest father). Against her will, her mother always sought contact with her during the pregnancy. She felt: 'Leave me alone, I want to enjoy this!'. She was also very angry about what her father had taken away from her. Before she was a whistler, now she couldn't walk away from the past.
Because the baby was in breech, it became a sectio. The ultrasound showed that the baby was lying with her head in a hollow of the uterus. The delivery started at home when the membranes broke. Meconium-containing amniotic fluid turned out to be pale. Immediately it was decided to carry out the section.
The first day her stomach was emptied because she was always nauseous. She was fed a tube because she could not drink: she had no strength in her lower lip, a hanging lip. In the uterus she had always been lying in the same position, with the result that one side was underdeveloped. The possibility of brain damage was considered. She was taken to the pediatric ward, while her mother was cared for in the maternity ward. A tragedy for the mother.
After 8 days she was a completely different child: she cried a lot, was stressed and was very distressed.
During the first year she continued to cry a lot. During the first year she continued to cry a lot. She received physiotherapy because of the bad drinking by the underdeveloped muscles. A painful thing.
In the hospital she already had a cold and when she was 3 months old she often coughs and spits regularly.
She was a very stressed and tense child. Distant, did not want to be comforted or lie down with her parents. She was angry, making fists and dropping herself off.
She slept very lightly and was frightened by sounds. She didn't like being touched. When she was two years old she walked away. Before, when she fell, she got very angry. She was also late with her teeth and she had blisters on her buttocks, because of the aggressive and foaming stools. At that time she was very angry.
Mind
Her mother described her as humorous, she could laugh at crazy things. Also someone who needed time to get used to new situations. She didn't want to be touched, not even by other children, and if she didn't want to give kisses, she didn't! She stuck to her own feelings and if she didn't want something, she wouldn't do it.
She was a nature person. She watched birds, observed flowers and wanted to learn new things. Her mother said that she had only recently, very briefly, said something in return when she was greeted. That's what her mother called her reactions. During the consultation I noticed that she didn't give me any answers when I asked her a question, but she did make clear eye contact, without any change of facial expression. She had a serious aura and did not or hardly laugh.
She dreamed a lot. When her mother had to leave in the evening she said: "You can't drive, because you can't die." She regularly said, "I'm not going to be an eight anyway." She was very consistent in that. If she hadn't talked about it for a while, she would have said exactly the same thing again. She also had statements that started with: "With my other daddy and mommy.."
She was very sensitive to positions, especially when it came to raising the voice. She then put her hands in front of her ears. She was very attached to fixed patterns and didn't want to sleep anywhere other than at home. She hung a lot on her mother. She could be jealous.
A year ago the cat had been killed. She still talked about it every day. Her mother told her that she especially remembered bad events well. At the age of one and a half she slept with her mother's sister. The weather was bad and a roof tile was blown off the roof. Her reaction: "I don't want to sleep there again." She had a bad experience when she was less than one year old when she slept under a sloping skylight, against which the rain was clattering. She woke up screaming. Since then she has woken up with every shower for three years. She was also sensitive to the sound of airplanes.

Reaction
After taking the drug a couple of times, she noticed that she came away more from her mother. She became naughty and obstinate at times. She had gone to sleep better, had fewer colds and had coughs. When she was ill she improved, when she used a solution of Asarum 30K: things didn't get out of hand when she was ill. Later on she noticed that she didn't retreat so much anymore, she let herself be touched better, especially by her mother. At school she took initiatives and even sometimes fought.
Two years after starting the treatment, the respiratory tract is much better. She has had the drug in different strengths, up to 50MK (once). She had become more open. During the last consultations she answered when I asked her to tell me something. Moving to see. Girls at school were teased. She did not participate. Coming home, she commented, "I'm ashamed of my own boyfriends."
