Casus 4.4: a tearful eye.

The intake took place in June 1999. This is a 30-year-old woman with eye complaints for 2 years. Her right eye tears continuously (she becomes emotional when she talks about it). Examination by an ophthalmologist did not show any pathology. The flood of tears is mild, the eye is not painful or irritated. Wind, weather or changes in temperature have no effect. She has minor refractive abnormalities (-2) and wears contact lenses.
Hardly ever has a cold.
Other complaints: headache before menses. Above left eye. Worse on days off, worse standing up. Better by lying down (need for silence). No nausea or vomiting. Since 3 months stopped with OAC, no influence on the headache.
Previous history
Eight years ago, laryngitis.
2 times cystitis.
March 1999: otitis on the right.
Visit to Mali, India, Nepal: paludrine and later lariam used.
Generals
Weather: feels much better in the mountains, a lot of energy.
Menses: regular, not much pain or blood loss
Social: coordinator of performances by children from the Third World in primary schools. Sometimes peak load: feeling of going into hiding in the work. Hardly sees any friends..
Psychologically: her boyfriend has cheated on her in the past, now again. She has definitively put an end to it: angry and sad. Feels very hurt.
Tearing eye: insecure about how she comes across, wants to look nice.
Writes a lot, organizes thoughts.
Ex-friend depressed, she is energetic and cheerful.
Loves to travel and get acquainted with other cultures. Likes a quiet pace of life in Spanish-speaking countries in South America (no raising of the voice, anger). The Dutch experience them as blunt and noisy.
Analysis
The core is the injuries caused by her boyfriend.
A remedy from the Rosaceae family of plants is chosen, she is teleurgsteld in love. Prunus spinosa is a plant from this family with many eye complaints.
Reaction
First requirement: Staphisagria 200K. No improvement of the complaints.
Second prescription (2 months after intake): Prunus spinosa MK..
Response: 3 days after this drug the eye stopped with tears (for the first time in 2 years!).
