Natrium fluoratum Case
The theme became clear after the following case. The patient mentioned earlier under Magnesium muriaticum had improved considerably and was no longer depressed. But she came back after one year, because 'there were a few minor things' that still bothered her. The few minor things were a small lump on her lip and something else. That something else was difficult to talk about. It appeared that she was in love with her brother and she did not know what to do about it. She felt afraid to admit it. She felt that her brother was also in love with her, but she wasn’t sure about it.
She also had three dreams. The first dream was that she was riding on the back of a black bull. The second one was that she was making love and suddenly it turned into 'group sex', which frightened her and made her go away. The third one was that she was making love with her girl friend.
Analysis
The analysis wasn’t easy. The only thing that was clear was the mental problem. The sexual aspect was quite obvious in the dream about the bull. The group sex also has associations with fl-ac. But the sexuality was not as clearly experienced as in Fl-ac. A Fluor bond seemed appropriate, but which one ? The closed character of the problem reminded me of Natrum. She was quite closed and found it very difficult to talk about the problem. I even think that she wouldn’t have told me about it, if I hadn’t successfully helped her in the past. The theme of the forbidden incest and having to keep it hidden indicated the Natrum element. All this combined made me decide on Nat-f.
Reaction
The reaction on Nat-f. 200 was amazing. She came back after one month and asked if I had something for her anxiety before her exam. When I asked about the incest problem she replied: 'Oh that, that’s gone'.
