A woman aged 40 comes with recurring sinusitis.
She catches cold from the slightest exposure. She has a yellow-green lumpy discharge from her nose which smells very offensive. In 1986 she had a sort of cancer in the nose which was removed surgically. Her complaint then was loss of blood from the right nostril.
A second complaint is fears. She has fear of disease, heart disease, cancer, shops, thunderstorms (3), narrow spaces, and that something strange will happen to her. She easily takes on other people's fears, especially her husband's. If there is something wrong with him, she thinks that she has that too.
She has always been thin. In 1979 she only weighed 39 kilos. That was when she was very upset because her father had died, as well as her brother in law, who had a brain tumour. She suffered from headaches and nausea at that time, and went to seek help with psychic healers.
She has stitching pains in the occiput, < snow, < noise.
Stool with bleeding. Quickly tired, < thinking.
Tickling cough. Blue rings under her eyes. Stomach pains at 11am.
She looks very old and emaciated; her face is extremely withered.
Past history: in 1985 she had a hysterectomy, because of excessive bleeding. The bleeding started after hormone treatment for amenorrhoea. After the operation she still had stomach pains from the scars.
Temperature: < wind, < thunderstorm(3), < snow.
Aversion: bread.
Sleep: cries in her sleep at 2 am.
Childhood: She had a very close bond with her father. When she used to have any pain, her father would put his hand on it and the pain would disappear.
She got married at an early age and left home. After that she did not return home, because she had a row with her mother and her sisters. Her mother always treated her unfairly. For instance, her mother did not give her any part of her grandmother's inheritance. Her mother also used to be very strict and often squeezed her throat.
The greatest trauma in her whole life was the fact that she was not wanted. Her mother tried to have an abortion, which was partially successful: her twin sister died. She resents all the pain that her mother has caused her.
Mind: She often dreams about the war or about fire.
She hates sexuality.
Analysis
There are many typical Phosphorus symptoms: haemorrhages from various orifices, the many fears of disease, the specific fear of thunderstorms, the amelioration from magnetising, the taking on of other peoples complaints, the dreams about fire. She reacted fairly well to a dose of Phos, but the improvement did not last. The symptoms of exhaustion and the fact that she was one of a twin, made me think of ph-ac. But this did not bring a lasting improvement either. Another approach was to look at the resentment towards the mother, and the remedy which has this picture is Am-m. This did give an improvement, but again, it had to be repeated more and more often. Finally, at one of the consultations, I got the idea that, although the resentment was directed towards the mother, the reason for it was the loss of her twin sister. This is precisely what the theme of Am-p describes.
Reaction
After Am-p 1 M there was a great improvement. The temporary improvements on the previous remedies (Phos, Sep, Am-m, Cinn, Ox-ac, Hydr, Ph-ac, X-ray, Iod) had made it necessary for her to come back very often. But this time she stayed away for a whole year, because she was so much better. She also discovered that she has healing hands, like her father, and she was now able to start using this gift.
