Kalmia latifolia

664.63.05 Kalmia latifolia, Case
Case by Resie Moonen.
Woman, 42, psoriasis.
She has psoriasis on her arms and legs since her 17th year, worse in fall and winter and slightly better in summer. It feels like an open skin, harrowing. She also has pain in her hips.
Her father has ankylosing spondilitis.
Her parents divorced when she was 6 years old, she and her younger brother lived with her mother. She had a good childhood but was very afraid of failure, easily felt inferior. She feels observed and very insecure yet she is decisive. She quits her job on her own initiative, at 17 to go to London to take up an au pair work. She wanted to be away, be independent and autonomous, deciding everything in her life herself. In London she developed psoriasis. It was hard work, she was unsure whether she could stay.
She still has many doubts, fear of failure, is insecure, delaying things. She is also quite ambitious internally, especially with her own plans. She is autonomous.
After studying mental health she went to Nepal and India, still did not know what she wanted and postponed her final choice.
She prefers travelling alone, even now, although she has a partner and 2 children.
She gets severe joint pains in her shoulders and neck, with stiffness at rest. The pains are wandering continuously, every day somewhere else in her upper extremities, sometimes with numb hands and arms.
