655.26.16 Daphne mezereum, Case
Man, 50, arthritis.
He has burning pains in his hands, his metacarpophalangeal joints on waking at 7 am, worse from jar, typing and pinching things. It is worse from turning his fingers and drinking whiskey in the evening. His fingers are swollen more on the left side. The weather and cold do not influence the complaints. They are worse by taking care of his daughter who demands a lot of attention. The complaints cause him chagrin, with the fear of getting handicapped.
He is running the household as he is without a job and cannot find one. His wife has a job and is taking care of the income. He feels uneasy that he cannot provide an income and cannot find a job.
He is very busy with genealogy. He has discovered that his grandfather was a member of the National Socialist party and was collaborating with the Germans in the war. The grandfather had done that to get a job, not so much out of principle, but he was put into prison for three years after the war. Later he discovered that his other grandfather and some uncles also had been members of the National Socialist party. After the war the grandfather, an aunt and the mother were captured and humiliated and being naked. His father worked as a captain at sea for the Germans. He was traumatised when his boat went down after being torpedoed and he almost drowned.
Since then he understands better that his mother could not cope with his father and the children. She was always angry, never loving and had attacks of anger. His mother could not listen to him, even more so as he was quite difficult. His father was mostly away at sea as a captain and was a stranger to him.
His first marriage ended after 15 years when his wife discovered she was lesbian and chose for that. He felt angry and betrayed. They had quite a lot of lawsuits that he stopped after his ex-wife could not handle it anymore. He had taken care of the children but then gave them to her. He got into a new relationship which was very good and telepathic but the difference in age of 15 years gave trouble in the beginning.
He studied as a musicologist and worked in an art company. Later he worked as a computer programmer as a volunteer.
He is angry when seeing injustice, like seeing people being beaten by the police on television. He has a fear of physical punishments and the tendency to withdraw from strangers. It is not so easy for him to express himself emotionally.
He suffers from a lack of air from smog. He has burning in his oesophagus.

Desire: coffee, chocolate, sweets, meet, cheese, milk.

Analysis
The theme of being a social outcast is typical for Mezereum. Especially in cases where family members have collaborated with the enemy of society and where on the one hand there is a loyalty to those family members and on the other hand to society. And that is exactly the case here.
But we see also many other aspects of Thymelaeaceae. We see the theme of oxygen in the fear of being handicapped. We see it in his youth where his mother did not respect him and his father was neglecting him. We see the sulphur aspect especially in his first marriage where his wife chose another. We see the Silver series aspect in his musicology and programming.
Stage 16 is the one indicated. The theme of the outcast is there. But we also see his position as being out of society.
Follow up
One month after Mezereum he feels generally much better. His hands and muscles have much less pain and his mood has gone up.
Three months and three repetitions later he is doing very well.
