665.57.07 Euphrasia officinalis, Case
Man, 25, hayfever.
He is allergic to grass, cats, house dust, house mites, dogs, feathers, wool and smog. He has attacks of sneezing in the morning; his eyes are very red, painful stitching and have been for many years. The veins in his eyes are red. The lachrymation is biting and the eyelids are red and cracked. The lachrymation is worse from yawning. He is also asthmatic, has lots of wheezing and coughing. He has frontal headaches. Everything is worse in grass lands, May and June, beautiful weather and wind, air conditioning and outside. It’s better when he is inside, at night and from swimming.
The complaints started after he moved to a new home with his parents. He is caring for his parents who both have rheumatic complaints. The care for his parents is a burden to him.
He is the quiet type, more on watch. He doesn’t express himself easily, holds everything in. He is very precise. He likes music very much, classical and pop, reading, watching television, bicycling, fishing and collecting stamps. He has a fear of wasps since he was stung once.
In his youth he had frequent coryza, especially from drafts. He also had frequent influenzas which ended in inflammation of his throat and tonsils with white spots on them, swollen glands in his cervical region and swelling of the sternocleido-mastoid muscles.
General
Weather: -> warm, < draught, < wind, > fresh air, > sea, < smoke.
Sweat: < warmth, < exertion.
Time: < after 11 pm, > morning.
Desire: sweet, spicy, sour.
Aversion: frozen food, endive.
Sleep: on his right side.
Analysis
Phase 7: care for his old and diseased parents.
Euphrasia: acrid tears, worse in wind and outside; lachrymation when yawning.
Follow up
One month after a Euphrasia MK he came back and doesn’t have any of his complaints anymore. They disappeared after one day and even bicycling in a neighbourhood with grass was no problem. In general he feels fine.
He came back a year after because the hay fever had come back a little bit, about 30%. He noticed it was especially worse when he is with his parents. He had been married in between and does not live with them anymore. A new dose of Euphrasia erases his complaints again very fast.
